What counts as an affiliate link here

Every tour card, every booking button and every availability widget on this site is an affiliate link to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. They carry my partner id so a booking can be attributed here. Ordinary links between pages of this site are not affiliate links. There are no other advertisers, no sponsored placements, no paid reviews and no operator has bought a position, a phrase or a star.

The thing this disclosure exists to tell you

GetYourGuide sells no admission ticket to Festung Königstein, so I earn nothing on the part of your day most people assume is the bookable part. The fortress sells its own tickets at the windows from 09:00 to 17:00, I have said so on the tickets page and on most other pages here, and that sentence earns me nothing every time somebody reads it. I would rather you arrived knowing.

The same applies to walking up. The footpaths from the town take thirty to forty-five minutes and they are free, and I am not going to sell you a coach to avoid them. All four ways up are set out plainly.

What it does not change

Not the ratings, not the ordering, and not what I tell people to avoid. The clearest proof is on the reviews hub: the highest-rated product I list, at 4.8, is one I tell readers not to book if the fortress is what they came for, because the fortress is not on its itinerary. The most booked tour here is reviewed with its own description quoted back at it — entry not included. And the one product I think is built properly around this place has no reviews at all, which I say in its first line rather than at the bottom.

What I am not selling

I am not the fortress, not Festung Königstein gGmbH, and not a tour operator. I do not sell entry, parking, lift rides, road-train seats, guided tours or accommodation, and I cannot get you through the gate.
